Online Marriage Application

Please read the following instructions below before you start the application.

  1. You must be at least 18 years of age to apply. If you are under the age of 18, please call the clerk's office for further instructions.
  2. To start the application you will need to enter a valid email address below, and click continue.
  3. Fill in all information for both individuals and click submit. After completing the application, you will receive a confirmation code. This will be sent to the email address you provided.
  4. Both parties to the ceremony must appear in person at the Kane County Clerk's Office within 14 days to complete the application process.
  5. Couples must be getting married in Kane County within the next 60 days.
  6. If you are converting a civil union to a marriage, you cannot use the online registration, please call our office at 630-232-5950.
  7. When you come to the Clerk's Office, couples will need to bring:
    • One form of valid acceptable ID as listed below. Enter the name as it appears on your ID, no photocopies:
      1. US Government Issued Driver's License or State ID
      2. Valid US Passport or Foreign Passport-must have issue and expiration dates
      3. Matricula Consular
      4. Permanent Resident Card
      5. US Armed Forces Identification Card
    • The confirmation code you received in your email when you applied online.
    • $32.00 fee per couple/CASH ONLY
    • Couples will sign the marriage affidavit and the license will be issued at that time.
